ISO 898-1 Grade 10.9, 12.9 Threaded Rod
Key Points of SS304 & SS316 Threaded Rods:
Application: Widely used in construction, food processing equipment, marine structures, chemical plants, water treatment facilities, and general industrial fastening applications.
Materials: Austenitic stainless steels, offering good mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and durability.
Grades: SS304 and SS316 are the two most common stainless steel grades for threaded rods, each providing different levels of corrosion resistance and application suitability.
Testing Requirements: Threaded rods are manufactured to international standards (ASTM, DIN, ISO) and tested for tensile strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance to ensure reliable performance.
01 SS304 Threaded Rod | Material: Austenitic stainless steel containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Tensile Strength: ~ 70 ksi (515 MPa). Applications: General construction, architectural structures, automotive, food industry equipment, and machinery parts. Temperature Range: Up to 870°C (continuous service), 925°C (intermittent service). Properties: Excellent corrosion resistance in normal atmospheric and mild chemical environments. Good weldability and machinability. Cost-effective compared to SS316, making it the most widely used stainless steel grade. |
02 SS316 Threaded Rod | Material: Austenitic stainless steel containing 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. Tensile Strength: ~ 70 ksi (515 MPa). Applications: Marine structures, offshore equipment, chemical processing, pharmaceutical industry, and food-grade environments requiring higher corrosion resistance. Temperature Range: Up to 870°C (continuous service), 925°C (intermittent service). Properties: Superior resistance to chloride corrosion (pitting and crevice corrosion). Excellent performance in harsh environments such as seawater or chemical plants. Higher durability and longevity compared to SS304, though at a slightly higher cost. |
